MANAGING DIRECTOR - QATAR FINANCIAL CENTRE - REGULATORY AUTHORITY
Ewald Müller became the MD at the QFCRA in August 2016 after joining in April 2012 as Director, Financial Analysis, from SAICA, where he had served as Senior Executive: Standards for 4.5 years. His areas of responsibility cover the supervision of banking, investment management and insurance, AML/CFT, and macroprudential analysis.
After commencing a career in auditing before joining Bank Supervision at the South African Reserve Bank for three years, Müller has amassed more than 30 years’ experience, largely focused in the financial services industry, in a variety of roles, including Bank Analyst, Financial Manager, General Manager, and Investor Relations Officer.
He is a member of Qatar’s Financial Stability & Risk Control Committee, the King Committee on Corporate Governance, and the Global Forum for Ethics (under the auspices of ACCA). He has presented at various international conferences hosted by organizations such as the World Bank, the World Congress of Accountants, the United Nations (where he chaired the 31 st session of ISAR), and IFAC. He has also anchored shows on business radio and television. He holds a B.Compt (Hons) degree from UNISA and is a Chartered Accountant (SA).
